Mission

ILCS will implement an academically rigorous curriculum that will raise the student's intellectual capacity, provide them with a superior high school education and prepare them for higher education.

What We Do

Our school will implement a philosophy that calls for high expectations which will provide each student with powerful learning experiences that stress complex and engaging activities, relevant content and active discovery of curriculum objectives. We see:

  • Our school as a symbol of intellectual enterprise and accomplishment for young men and women emanating from the Bronx;
  • Our teachers preparing individuals for a world characterized by heterogeneous and increasingly independent societies and a complex global economy;
  • The study of international education as a strategy for integrating local and global issues in an academic setting;
  • Our students as leading the profit, non-profit and governmental sectors around the world.

Our Goals & Objectives

Our educational goals will, without exception, strive to provide an academically rigorous program of study that is aligned to the performance standards with clear data driven measures of progress. Our goals will also be consistent with the New York Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) requirements. The ILCS five year goals are as follows:

  • ILCS shall make AYP in ELA, Mathematics and Science as measured by the NYS Regents Examinations.
  • 90% of students who seat annually for Regents Exams in ELA, Mathematics and Science will have a 30% higher pass rate on the NYS Regents Examinations than high schools in the community school district in which they are located.
  • 90% of the cohort of students enrolled continuously at ILCS from grades 9 through 12 will graduate within 4 years.
  • 90% or more of the ILCS students will achieve an average daily attendance of 85% or better as measured by annual data collected on daily attendance.
