Lauren Bell
Hi, my name is Lauren Bell and I am teaching 9th grade Global History at the International Leadership Charter High School. Graduating from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, I studied History and Education and played Division III women’s soccer. I also studied British History at the University College London and am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Education at Fordham University. I have coached soccer for 6 years and in my spare time I love taking photos and working within the domestic violence prevention movement. I grew up in San Francisco, California and am blessed with two professor parents who always taught me to be a global citizen. Traveling to foreign places such as Hong Kong, Estonia, Russia, Lithuania, Italy, and Greece I have grown to value other cultures and try everyday to open my student’s eyes to the world around them. I look forward to a rigorous year in which students learn to think, write, and speak like global citizens.
Kristin Ryan
I’m Kristin Ryan; I’m originally from Fairfield, CT. I just graduated in May from Miami University of Ohio. I was a Secondary Social Studies Education major with a history minor. Teaching has always been my dream. I love working with students and throughout college I became involved in a tutoring program called Adopt a School, which confirmed my aspiration to be a teacher. I just moved to New York City and am now fortunate to be teaching ninth 9th grade Youth Leadership Advisory (YLA) at International Leadership Charter High School in the Bronx.
Caitlin O’Leary
Caitlin O’Leary is honored to serve International Leadership Charter High School for the 2011-2012 school year as a twelfth grade English and College Composition teacher. After attending Marymount School on the Upper East Side, Ms. O’Leary matriculated to Harvard College where she specialized in English and American Literature and Language and minored in French. During her college years, Ms. O’Leary held various internships at the Harvard University Employees Credit Union, the Harvard University Press, and Tommy Hilfiger. Ms. O’Leary applied to Teach For America because she has always wanted to teach. As the big sister to four siblings, Ms. O’Leary grew up tutoring and mentoring her siblings to ensure that they were successful in school. She is ecstatic to serve the International Leadership community because she is passionate about British Literature and the college application process. Ultimately, she aspires to pursue a PhD in English Literature (or a JD) and a Master’s in social work so that she can continue to teach English and assist students in the college process.
